What is graphic design?
A skilled art where images, text, and other artwork is combined to form an effective message.
There are so many freelance graphic designers. How do I know who to hire for my project?
There are several things to look for– experience, portfolio, contract, response time, business etiquette, marketing knowledge, rates and more. Click here for a detailed answer and tips on how to choose a freelance graphic designer.
Does it matter whether my designer is in the same city?
Not at all. It depends on your comfort zone and how good the designer is about responding to you in a timely manner. I have done projects with many clients outside of Dallas, like Houston, Fort Worth, Los Angeles, and even Dubai. I only meet 50% of my clients face-to-face; all the work is sent in a file they can download or that I email to their printer directly. I chat with them over the phone or Skype as needed.
What are the average graphic designer fees in a major city like Dallas, Houston or other?
Freelance rates average from $50-$100/hr. Agency rates average from $125+/hr. Don’t shop solely based on price. Look for all factors- portfolio, business etiquette, response time etc.
What all services do you provide?
Branding, print marketing, packaging design, boutique style design, label design, product photography, copywriting, website design, wordpress websites and consulting. Click here for a detailed list of services.
I also have a different division of the company that works more with product sourcing, private labeling, label design and product launch. If you have or are creating a product line and want assistance, please visit LAUNCH Private Label for some great info.

I needed something designed and sent to a printer yesterday, can you help?
I often work on tight deadlines, so please email or call me. Based on project details and workload I may be able to help.
What if I am not happy with my design? Do I pay for revisions?
I want my client to be happy with the final result, so most times the first round of edits is generally free (read your project agreement for specifics). Sometimes there are 2 free rounds. As long as the edits are not unreasonable, I will work with you. If it is a complete change in design, we would work out a re-do at a discounted rate.
What do you need from me to start the project?
A signed agreement, a 50% deposit and any relevant files.
What is your hourly rate?
$65/hr. for design, consulting and copywriting. Please contact me directly for website/photography projects. We do offer flat rate pricing on larger projects.
I need a media kit designed but I have no photographs or any text. Can you help?
Definitely. Schnauz Design does product photography, real estate or interiors photography and more. I can do the photography or buy stock photos from sites like www.istock.com. I also provide copywriting, so if you give me some bullet points, I can develop it into a solid message. I will handle all paper sourcing and printing for you as well.
I bottle my own salsa and want to market it. What do I need?
You will need a few things- professional and great looking label design and packaging design, a logo, business card, brochure or postcard, product photography and a website. If you’re in a product business, take a look at my other site as well LAUNCH Private Label.
Where are you located?
Schnauz Design is at 17762 Preston Rd., Suite 211, Dallas, TX 75252. We work with clients from DFW, other states, and international.
What are my responsibilities as a client?
Timely communication is number one. It is imperative that the client communicates changes in a project, timelines, or anything related to the project and due date. Submission of files on time is also very important. It’s always good when a client makes timely payments as well.
